What is TXT2Join?
This is a method of communication through Dialog Health that you can use to opt-in your audience without initiating the conversation from your console. In this article, we will review how you can leverage Join Keywords to opt-in your subscribers via TXT2Join.
Dialog Health Phone Number
Each Dialog Health client is either assigned a 5-digit short code, or a 10-digit long code. This is the number that your audience will recieve a text message from when you communicate with them from your Dialog Health console. You can find your number by selecting the Console Name drop down in the top right-hand corner. Your audience must text your unique Join Keyword to your Dialog Health phone number to utilize TXT2Join. In the example below, my Dialog Health phone number is 53103.
Join Keywords
These keywords, are quite literally the "key" for your subscribers to opt-in. Below are the steps to find your current Join Keywords.
1) Navigate to the Setup Tab
2) Select
Groups, here you will see the opt-in groups already established for your console. To learn more about creating Groups, click
HERE.
3) Next to each group, you will see the opt-in keyword listed in parenthesis (i.e., FRANKLINSURG). By dispersing this code to your audience, they can opt-in by texting this code to your 5 or 10 digit code. Make sure that you disperse the correct Join Keyword that you'd like you audience to opt-in to if you have multiple opt-in groups.
Using TXT2Join
If a person has your 5-digit short code, or 10-digit long code, along with your unique Join Keyword, they can remotely opt-in to your console. In the example below, the Join Keyword is FRANKLINSURG.
If the participant has never been opted-in to your console before, a null profile will be added for them in Dialog Health. TXT2Join does not pick up First/Last Names, Identification Numbers, Demographics, or Misc Fields. If you need this information on file, you will have to manually edit that person's profile in Dialog Health. To learn more about editing/adding person profiles, click
HERE.
If a person sends a text message containing your Join Keyword, but they have already been opted-in to the console, Dialog Health will remind the subscriber that they are already opted in for text messaging.
Why is TXT2Join Useful?
Person didn't mean to opt-out of messaging
By providing your Join Keyword in your opt-out text message, this gives the person the opportunity to opt back in for messaging if they did not mean to opt-out, or would like to opt back in. This alleviates the work flow of having to manually opt the person back in for messaging from the console. To learn more about updating your keyword responses, click
