How to Upload a CSV File to Your Console

To load the CSV file via the Dialog Health user interface, here are the steps you need to follow:

1. Log into your Dialog Health console

2. Click the Employees tab

3. Click on the Import Employees button

4. A new window should open. Click Choose File, browse your device and select the CSV file you'd like to upload.

Your file has to be saved in CSV format in order to successfully upload into Dialog Health

5. After you select the file you'd like to upload, Dialog Health will display the file name. This step is a great spot to double-check that you are selecting the correct file you'd like to upload. Our platform will also let you know, based off of the file type, what type of data you're uploading. In the example below, I am uploading a 17-Columned CSV file which only contains participant data (and not event data).

6. Before we select Import in the bottom right corner, we need to select one of the following options:

Bulk Opt-In: This will prompt Dialog Health to send everyone on your CSV file an opt-in text message.

Bulk Opt-Out: If the members on your CSV file are already loaded onto Dialog Health and you'd like to opt-out a large amount of people instead of one-by-one, you can use this option. Otherwise, if you are loading new data into your console, there is no need to use this option.

No Selection: If you do not select either option and import your file, it will load everyone from your CSV onto your console, but no one will be opted in for messaging. If you forgot to make a selection and import, simply import the same CSV file again and select (Opt-In or Opt-Out). As long as the Employee ID on the CSV matches the existing profiles in Dialog Health. The CSV file will update existing profiles instead of making a duplicate.

7. After you select Bulk Opt-In, select what Group you'd like your employees to be added to.

8. Now you are ready to Import your file! Select Import

After you select Import, Dialog Health will ask you to Confirm if you are sure you'd like to continue to with the file import as a safeguard.

Be conscious of what time in the day you import files to avoid messaging people too early or too late.

After you select Confirm, you will receive a final message letting you know the data has been accepted and is processing. Import time varies with file size.

Why Am I Receiving an Error Message?

If you receive an error message, these are some possible scenarios:
  1. Check the column count in the file: a CSV file can fail if the column count is incorrect. (e.g. if you are using the 32-Columned CSV file, all 32 columns have to be present when you upload, even if you aren't using every column).
  1. Invalid mobile phone number(s) or invalid additional phone number(s): have been found; please make certain any mobile phone numbers contain 10 digits.
  1. Event name is missing: If uploading a 17- Columned CSV file, event name is required. Please be certain any row with event data has an event name.
  1. Event time is invalid: Event time is required whenever importing an Event. Please be certain any row with event data has a valid event time format like HH:MM for a 24-hour clock or HH:MM AM/PM for 12-hour.
  1. Invalid date(s) of birth have been found: If a date of birth is present in the file, it should be entered using the MM/DD/YYYY format.
  1. The file is not saved as CSV: your file must be saved in this format for it to successfully import to Dialog Health.
